I'm with yngldy, the only one I have heard of was the Drunkard's Path for a child. But's its funny, I like the pattern but the Fading Charms pattern is not one I would give one of my college age nieces.

I made one of those several years ago from a pattern I got at Walmart. No matter what I did, it would not go together correctly. I took it all apart and gave it to the local quilt shop. Several seasoned quilters there make charity quilts. Guess what??? It went together incorrectly for them too. I felt very vindicated.

*** It was mentioned in a book that I recently read:
*** The Quilter's Apprentice by Jennifer Chiaverini.
*** As the Wandering Foot.

I was always told not to make a Drunkard's Path for a child as that would be the path they would follow in life.

I've heard a story of a quilt that was made by a jilted love for her ex and his bride. It is a crazy quilt and all the symbols embroidered on it are not pleasant. One symbol is a dagger dripping blood. It seems this quilt actually was cursed. According to the story, the recipients died within about six months of being married. One appraiser was handling the quilt with gloves on and felt some very strange vibes coming off the quilt. It kind of freaked her out. Talk about creepy.

That would be awful. I have heard the Drunkard's Path story; and I think I read the J. Chavierini book. I'm leaving those patterns out of my quilting life.
