We're fortunate that we have many LQS in a 20-mile radius that we can choose from. Even better, a new quilt store opened up last year. It's nice knowing in this economy, the quilting business is thriving!

Our local quilt shop will be closed by the middle of the month. I go in almost everyday as it is only a block from my office and I pass it on the way to post office. I will really miss the owner as well as the convenience of having the shop so close. The next closeset shop will be over 30 miles away.

So far they're still open, but I can tell a few of them are feeling the pinch - more sales, more email requests to come in, etc... I really hope they can stay open, I love my local quilt shops!

We had one here that stayed for a while and closed. Our Wally World also did away with the fabric department. They have one aisle devoted to sewing items now. You have to go to the surrounding cities within a 45 miles radius to shop for fabric now. I do most of my shopping online now with the gas prices going up.

I met them last month at the Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge. What a shame to have to close.
