Just out of curiosity, and I'm not asking you to name it, but was this a guild show or a county fair show? If it was a guild show, was it by any chance their first?
This was a guild show (several guilds sponsoring) and it was by far not their first. They've been doing one every other year for quite some time. Not really sure what went wrong, maybe several different people dropping the ball and that just added up to chaos. It's frustrating because the quilters work hard for a long time on their entries an then only to have things so disorganized an unsure, makes it feel like you wasted your time. Lesson learned though. I'll cross this show off my list and move on.

Congratulations Rachel!

After all the turmoil, I'm glad it was well received.

Awarding ribbons is a lot like value placement - it all depends what it's up against at that moment.
Different show and judge could get a totally different outcome.

It's a wonderful quilt and I'm sure you'll continue to get positive reviews.

I would give it Best of Show ~ it is a stunning and exquisite quilt.

Absolutely beautiful!

One regional show I've been to (and submitted quilts to) has similar judging issues. A friend of mine took the "judge's tour" and in discussing the quilts the judge was critical of those that had been awarded ribbons and praised some that didn't. It was very confusing for my friend as she was very hopeful that she would get a ribbon and was really looking for pointers. There are no judge's comments at this particular show.

Your quilt is really stunning and I hope you will submit it to other shows!

Beautiful quilt. I can see how that judging is inconsistent, vague, and confusing. Hopefully they'll get it all sorted out for next year.
