I have gone on a couple of quilt cruises a few years ago. The quilting is done on sea days and didn't interfere with other things I may have done( visit the casino,for example). The other quilters were great folks; my husband went fishing with the other guys,so he was occupied. The classes I took we're high quality. I haven't gone on one since,as the prices have gone up.

It would all depend on when the classes are held during the cruise. I have been on one regular cruise and while there was some down time I was usually busy even if it was just walking the ship to get exercise and people watch. I was rarely even in our room except to sleep and change for dinner or swimming. Cruises are awesome and would love to go on a regular one again!

I checked on the Bonnie Hunter Alaskan cruise last week and they told me they only had a few rooms available. I
Can't go as we will just be starting back in school. I was really tempted by this one as I love her classes.

Never been on a cruise and probably never will get the chance, but it would be nice to go to Hawaii and visit the quilt shops there. I just love the way they quilt their quilts with two, no more than three colors. I don't think I would have the patience to quilt them the way they do but they are gorgeous just the same.

We've all had different experiences on "quilting cruises". They SOUND fun... and I'm sure if organized correctly that they will be! We have been on many cruises.... my favourites were with Holland America..... BUT.... that said.... we had (out of business now) a LQS that decided to put on a cruise..... they advertised & we signed up for..... A trip to Houston for the International Quilt Festival... and then onto a cruise ship for a quilting journey...... we/I was naive.... it was organized .... or sort of.... the ship was with Carnival Cruise lines... we had never heard of them so didn't know they were "the party ships".....people staggering (yes staggering) around the decks with buckets of beer... The quilters aboard the ship didn't have a "big name sewing machine company" backing them.... so it was going to be all hand work... we knew this ahead of time & were happy with that.... BUT.... then.... when the time came to meet & stitch... where did the cruise ship place us? No ... not the library... although you could go there & sit & stitch if you wanted.... BUT... the actual class..... YES... they placed us in the DISCO room.... you can just picture us little OLD (or not so old) ladies.... sitting in white plastic chairs.... strobe lights overhead.... leaning this way & that to get the best light from those 6" x 10" windows.... SO MY ADVICE TO YOU.... have a blast...BUT make sure you check into the details before you sign on the dotted line. Alaska is a wonderful choice for a cruise.... we have made this trip in May and worn shorts the whole trip.... others did their trip in August & had rain the whole time...... We did the trip another time in Sept/Oct & had fantastic weather.....

I have been to Alaska before and I loved it, I have gone on quite a few cruises and had a great time on them so I am looking forward to this cruise, my girlfriend has never been to Alaska or on a cruise and her husband has no interest in cruising so I thought this was a perfect opportunity for her to do both and I will enjoy it as well.

I've never gone on a quilting cruise as they do seem to be quite expensive but I have gone on a regular 7 day cruise on a Carnival ship. It was absolutely lovely and I hope to take another one next year. The cruise I was on seemed to be very family oriented with lots of children. I didn't see any drunks or bad behaviour so maybe it depends on which ones you take or maybe we were just fortunate? I can't compare to other cruise lines but I know Carnival has wonderful bargain rates and a group of people could arrange their own private quilting cruise for less money if they wanted to.

I've been on 3 cruises and LOVED them, they weren't quilting cruises though. Two have been on Carnival and One was on Holland America (all in the Caribbean). To be truthful, Carnival was more fun and I never saw any stagering drunk people but the ships are SO big there is always somewhere else to go. I was so busy I don't know when I'd sew. I do buy fabric on a lot of my vacations and bring it home. I have my hubby well trained. He ended up on his own on Martinique after he did a snorkeling excursion and I had already walked to town with my Mom. He passed a shop with fabric (I didn't go down the same street and never saw it). He went in a bought panel that had a map of the island on it. I haven't made it up yet but got some fabric with cruise ships on it, and some with beaches, shells, ect. Lots of fun to have memory quilts!

I bought some special fabric with sea turtles on the big Island in Hawaii, took all 6 yards left on the bolt (plus other pieces). I had only traveled with a carry-on but hubby bought an extra suitcase to take home with some koa wood (he's a woodworker) and I was gracious enough to cushion it with fabric, LOL!

I have never been on a Quilting Cruise, but I have been on a regular one, and oh my goodness, they are the best. I would love to take another one someday, maybe next year ...

I was on a small sail boat in the Bahamas, and the only time I got sick was when I was working on the computer, sending my daily diary to my family. My SIL said the worst thing to do on a boat is to be looking down and doing close work. If you feel sick, the thing to do is look at the horizon.
