Quilting?

I thoroughly agree. My feeling is that the heavy quilting is an "art thing" and while it is beautiful and a joy to look at, I do not want it on my bed. I tried it with one quilt and it is not warm and cozy. I used it one night and took it off because it was stiff and uncomfortable.I much prefer the quilt that has only enough quilting to hold it together.

I don't think that anyone posting about some quilts being overly quilted or gravely will post the pictures of the quilts they are speaking of due to possible backlash from the quilt owner or hurt feelings, they are just giving their opinions.

I personally don't like quilts that are pieced strips joined to plain strips UNLESS they are pretty heavily quilted in the plain strips. Quilts like the mile a minute are good for a quick charity/child quilt but leave me sorta flat. I don't like borders on my quilts (mainly because I don't like doing them) but when I see a quilt with lovely quilting in the borders I'm impressed.

I appreciate that posters don't want to hurt someone's feelings and so pictures would be hard to come up with.... This discussion has morphed from quilts that are cuddly, quilting overwhelming piecing, simple quilting can't win at a show etc.
Quilting is a design choice and a skill.
Also some quilters are happy doing the same thing over again and some are venturing into new areas. I think we owe it to each other to let quilters be creative in their own way and not decide one way is right or more pure.
My honest thoughts, IF someone took the time to post a picture or enter a show they are probably happy with their work.
I can't understand some of the thoughts and judgements expressed here so I will ignore them and continue with what brings me joy.
