Default Quilts for Area Rugs

A while back there were a couple of ladies that posted pictures of quilted area rugs. One was a lady who used her quilt as an area rug under a rocking chair in her sewing room. Another was of a lady who quilted rug runners with upholstery fabric. They inspired me. We had just had laminate floors installed in our living, dining area and I needed a rug for under my coffee table. I searched and searched and had a whole lot of trouble finding the right size and the right colors. After seeing the lady's posts I decided to make my own. It is currently sitting on top of the cheap rug I bought just to fill in the square until I found something that I liked. I am not happy with laying it this way, but I am not sure what I want to do. Any ideas?

Looks like it works well with the under rug.

Could you use a rubberized mat? They come in fairly long rolls but only about 18" wide. Maybe sew them together? I love your rug. Stunning.

It looks terrific! I would have a hard time bringing myself to walk on it, though!

That looks super to me. I also would have a hard time walking on this beautiful rug. I think that I would rather have it on my bed. You did a great job. BrendaK

Yes I think five paws has the answer. They sell a rubberized waffle-weave sheet you cut to size for under area rugs at the home hardware stores. It would cushion it against wear too.

It sure is prefect for your room. Nice job!
