Quilts that are tied?

Do you need to quilt them if they are tied? I thought that was the reason to tie, so you wouldn't have to quilt! Thanks. 80

Nope, tying is the only thing you do. Make sure to make good tight knots and have them close enough together.

Use a sailor knot when you do tie. They does un-tie themselves over time and washing.

Nope, you just tie them. Follow the direction on your batting (for closeness). Now, just a FYI, my Aunt Emma, DOB 1898, (God rest her soul) used to say "comforters" were tied and quilts were quilted, comforters wrapped you in puffy comfort and love and quilts wrapped you in love and warmth. Either way, they are amazing!

Tying takes the place of quilting. My grandma tied all of her quilts.

Is a sailor's knot the same as a square knot? That's what I use.

I've been considering tying a small quilt my granddaughter and I are working on. I've never done it - can someone point me to directions or have any advice?
