Hi,

Is the nylon invisible thread fine to use on the blocks (the X) when making a rag quilt. I've used it before, but wasn't sure if any of you have used it. Is it pretty durable? I don't have a lot of quilting experience so I was curious to know if anyone has had issues with it. I am going to sew the rows/blocks together with regular thread though. Any opinion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I always use a complimentary color. There might be a lot of stress in the invisible theead. The many that I have made get used and cuddled a lot

no it is not that good a choice for raggy quilts- raggy quilts need to be washed and dried to (fringe) invisible thread tends to dry out and break- or worse-melt in a hot dryer-
use regular thread you would piece with in a complementary- or contrasting color.

I just flat out refuse to use the invisible thread, on any thing. My opinion.

Yes, I feel the same. I do possess some, but just can't bring myself to use it.

I would use regular thread, too much laundering and heat for monofilament.

Thanks a bunch for all of your advice. I hope the ones that I've made before don't melt or deteriorate. I use regular thread for putting the blocks together though. I just hate the thought of the solid color thread running over the design on the fabric. Sounds goofy, but I want everything to be seen. I'd rather use regular though instead of risking future issues from using the clear thread. So do any of you use the nylon for stitching in the ditch?

I don't use the invisible thread on ANYTHING. Just my personal opinion.
