Im in the process of making a rag quilt queen size for my SIL he wanted all blues and denim. I started with 7" sqs using 5" low loft batting about 4/3 done (very heavy), but have managed to sew two rows, then snip, then sew two rows then snip, it makes it alot easier to sew together. I have doubled sewed each row to make sure it never comes undone, it's alot of work but it will be well worth it, as it will be a family heirloom. I have embroiardered his name and the year made, that will be in the center. will post picture when done. top is all cotton fabric.

Tighter woven cotton will fray well, instead of making your cuts straight, cut them on the angle. Bias cuts fray much better than a straight cut  :D:D:D

Amma--how much on the bias should you cut the blocks doing it this way? Just slightly or full-on bias placement? And don't they stretch when you do it like that with all the handling? Or do you quilt each block first before you assemble the whole top? I haven't made a rag quilt yet, but want to soon. Thanks!
