You can cut out the back pockets, put no fray, trim even with the seam. Add a cord, a fabric tie, I used a decretive cording. Attach an ens to each side. Cording sould be 18 in. Or lonher .you ca n decorated anyway you choose. You have a cell phone holder, ID carrier, whatever. You can also add a pin on the back so you pin it down.

Love all the displays so far, too!!
I think that placemats would be great! I would carefully remove the back pockets and place them to hold the napkin.

here is a picture of one of the aprons I have made out of bib overalls. The neat thing is you get two aprons from one overall. I like to giddy them up with lots of left over bit and pieces.

It is sandwiched and tied.[/quote]

I've never seen a denim quilt so beautiful as that. Love, love, love it.

It's so wonderful to see another OHCE member on here!! I belong to Grady County- SW District. Have you been to the state meetings? My group made rag quilts with 4th graders out of denim. We also received an award and an Ambassador grant for that project. Bibs for veteran's homes or nursing homes, tote bags for DHS Foster kids- another project we are invilved with, hot pads, there are lots of uses for recycled denim. There is a link on tipnuts.com for ideas. Good luck with your leader lesson. Are you nominated for an award? I won Rookie at state in 2005, and this year I'm going to district meeting nominated for member. Maybe I'll see you at the state meeting. Kathy

I make rag quilts. Saw them on an episode of Simply Quilts years ago.

I didn't put any batting in mine. Just the backing and the denim.

Years ago i bought a pattern for an upside down jacket made from jeans. The waistband was at the bottom of the jacket. I wanted to put a collar on it as the patterndidn't call for it and couln't get it to lay right. It is now an old UFO. I will eventually finish it, but not at this point as I have too many other things I need to make this year.
