I hope this is the same for Fiskars mats. I'm going to try it anyway. Can't hurt, can it? Also, to pick up the lint on my mat after cutting, I use the sticky lint roller for clothes. Works pretty good if you do it after each project.

Every so often I use a damp Mr. Clean eraser on my green boards and that seems to keep the fuzzies away. When a couple of mine were new, they smelled like skunk so bad I couldn't keep them in the house. It was mid-winter, so I kept them out in the sun room until the odor subsided. Brought them in and washed them with dawn dish soap and not a problem since.

Okay, I had two older mats...one had been used a LOT, it was my biggest mat! I soaked them both and they didn't seem much improved. The smaller one I took some super fine sandpaper and went over it several times. I finally got it to usable condition. The big one was beyond repair. Of coarse the back side was still good, so I will keep it. I had started marking lines on it last week with a sharpie. When my DH saw what I was doing, he insisted I just buy a new one....I did and I love it!! :D

I have Friskers, I soaked one outside as it very big. I put a huge plastic bag on my painting table and wet the mat down with hose and pulled the sides of the plastic around it so it is encased in the water. I also put the mat face down in the water.

Never though of using bathtub. I use lots of baby oil in spray bottle on my dry skin. So I took the oil to my cutting mat and lightly sprayed my old mat. Used scraps of batting to kinda polish & remove linty bits from mat. Let set for 1+ hours. Them washed it off using a micro fibre cloth & warm soapy water, twice. Sure looks renewed.

I have the 36 x 60 mat. Has anyone tried rolling it to put in the tub? I've already bought a new mat, but I would love to recondition the old one.

How about putting your jumbo size mat outside when it's raining since it's only supposed to soak for about an hour?
