Default Row By Row

I have decided to make a Row By Row quilt with rows from quilt shops in or near cities I have lived in. I would appreciate any help in locating stores. The places I have lived are listed below. I have gotten rows for Chicago, IL, Alamogordo, NM, and Ballinger, TX; however, I was an Army brat and need a little help with the others.

Fort Dix, New Jersey
Niagara Falls, NY
Wichita Falls, TX
Homestead, FL

I appreciate any help you can give me.

If you go to the Row by Row web sight you can look up which shops, in which states, are participating tha you can contact the shops directly.

I found these on the Row by Row website. They have a directory for every state.

Auntie's Attic Quilt Shop
1995 Military Road
Niagara Falls, NY 14304
716-297-3636
(their row is AWESOME!)

The Enchanted Quilt
1813 9th. St.
Wichita Falls, TX 76301
940-689-0990

Ft. Dix and Homestead do not appear to have participating shops. You may need to look for one in a nearby town.

It will give you all participating stores in each state. It will even show a picture of the row for each store (not all states).

As the others have suggested, contact those shops nearest the bases.

that is a great page. it also has links for canadian shops & links to shops in european countries who have joined the fun.
but ...the shops are not allowed to mail the rows until the game is over. and that's only if they have any kits or patterns left. a friend was traveling in Ohio & found a great row in a lqs there but it was the week before the game opened. the shop owner told her to call & she'd send one out here to washington state. she called & was told that they can't mail until after the 2016 row by row event ends in the fall.

Some of the shops are a little ridiculous with the rules. The lady you spoke of DID go into that shop in person so they should have mailed it to her now. I'd just say, at this point, sc$#% them and move on.

You can call the shops you want a kit from and pay for the kit now, and have them hold it until the mailing date is open. I did this. If you aren't trying to win a prize, what dif does a few months make? Some of the rows are amazing and some are just downright ugly and unimaginative, and I'm not going to put just anything into a quilt. I want the pretty rows only, of course! So, I look at them all online and then will have to preorder kits to be mailed to me in Oct, or whenever it is that they are free to do that.

I think there's some inequity in all this, since not everyone can travel and not everyone lives in states with a plethora of quilt shops. But... it is what it is.

Please understand that these events are designed as a way to increase (the limited) income for shops by getting bodies into the store, that's why the committees that set the events and rules make the "no mailing" rules. Doing so sort of defeats the purpose. They often also set a "no special sales" limit on the member shops for the duration so that all shops have an equal playing field.

You'll notice that most/many of these events take place in the summer travel season in the hopes of attracting tourists to the shops. Please don't bash them for the way they set up their sales events as it's hard enough to run a brick and mortar shop as it is! Try to find a friend/local resident who may help you out by going in for you, or just wait until the end.

Jan in VA (who is excited to see this progression from the shop hop theme Silver Threads and Quilt Country initiated in Dallas TX 18-19 years ago!)

For your NJ shop, there is Pennington Quilt Works that is participating. Not sure of any others in the state - although I am sure there are more. If you need someone to physically go to that store, let me know. It's 2 minutes away from me and I can pop in any time next week.
