How about to expose yourself to more than one method or idea on the subject? I love Bonnie and keep up with her site, but Joan's method and book are very helpful. Bonnie's patterns are very traditional, while Joan's are more modern. Bonnie's are very scrappy, while Joan's are more controlled.

They both feature great scrap methods but they are different and I've learned a lot from both of them.

Thanks everyone for all this info. I am fairly new to quilting and am beginning to accumulate "scraps". Looks like both methods are great. I need to get organized and all this is really helpful.
