Default Scrappy "Big Block" quilts?

Just watched Debbie Bowles doing her Big Block quilts on Nancy's Notions.
Has anyone ever tried one these in a scrappy quilt?
Perhaps a controlled scrappy.
Hmmmm

Is there such a thing as "controlled scrappy"?

Controlled scrappy is when you don't throw in the kitchen sink. You might have only blues, but there are many different blues, or blue and green, again with many fabrics but all within a certain range of colors. I'm more the "the more the merrier" type of scrappy quilter, but one of these days I will try to control myself, LOL.

Are you talking about large single pieces in big squares? I would think Attic Windows would be a good choice for this.

I just did a search for her big blocks. I think you could use scrappy on the main fabrics (where they are using the flowers) and keep the black, so that you can have the movement easily identified.

But overall, am not sure how it would look--maybe just like a bunch of fabrics sewn together.

My controlled scrappy is where I use the same neutral background fabric through out the quilt, this gives the eyes a place to rest vbg

I recently came across a pattern for a 72 x 72 log cabin block quilt . I did make a 48 x 48 log cabin block quilt several years ago.
