I love that u-tube potholders. Have to try them with my grandson. I'm sure he would love to give Spiderman potholders for Christmas.lol I made potholders for all my female relative a couple years ago for Christmas and everyone loved them. I used up a lot of scraps and tried to coordinate them to that particular persons preferences. My niece got horse fabric, DIL was purple and teal... I made them a little larger and told them they were either mug rugs or pot holders. No one had ever heard of mug rugs so they all got potholders.lol

To be successful at selling, I always found that one's work has to be stunning. Yes, one receives a lot of compliments but they don't help bring the groceries home.

when we used to do Craft fairs, potholders were always big sellers. We used to make them from panels (novelty fabric) - quick and easy, also Log Cabin to use up scraps.

I guess area is a big part of it. Here in Quebec, Canada, quilting is not a very popular hobby (crafters are more into knitting and jewellery making). I'm always the only quilter! I sold at least one baby or throw size quilt at each one of my craft show, and I think they are nice, but not stunning! However, a throw is a big expense for somebody who is retired, an older people don't seem to need or want keyfob or pouch like younger folks.

Have you seen the "fabric microwave bowl holders"? They are sooooo cute and useful and can be made from scraps. Just Google the topic.

Thanks, Bigsister, I remember putting these on my mental "product to try list" than forgot about it. I will try one to give to my mother and see what she thinks :-)

Yes, won't be making too many of those in Australia at average $26 per metre...
