I have a Janome Mini Sew. It is 5 pounds, does a variety of straight and zig zag stitches. It's a little workhorse. I recommended it to a member of my sewing group and she loves it. Yes, it is loud, but I kind of like it. Makes me think it's really working hard! LOL. Amazon has it for $59 and Hancock often sells it for $49. It is regularly $79. I think it is perfect for classes or travel.

I have a BabyLock Audrey which is lightweight and works well for classes. I also recently added a Featherweight to my menagerie of machines and I love it for classes and traveling.
