Default Sewing machine tension help

I have a Brother Nouvelle 1500S and am just beginning to do some top quilting. The tension seems fine for free motion quilting going forward or backward but when moving side to side as in meandering my bobbin thread pulls to the top. That works fine if I use the same color thread for top & bottom but often that is not the case! Any help or ideas would be much appreciated....thanks.

You'll need to either loosen the upper tension or tighten the bobbin tension. When we test the tension for free-motion, we sew in circular patterns to see where the "eyelashing" happens. Try loosening the upper tension first.
