We have a dining room that is soon to become my studio/sewing room... DH has said that as we hardly ever use the room to eat in that I should make use of it for my crafts.... I am so lucky, he really is a keeper. 12 years of very happy marriage!

Hugs

I agree with those 3 things....I would have said attitude, but they all work :) A Studio makes it sound that you are someone of importance....a sewing room is just another room in my house.

I call the sewing room- my room. I was drawing up plans for a sewing room- about 500 sq. ft. FROG (family room over garage) but hubby kept taking space. Then I decided it was cheaper to do over the basement. Hubby started claiming space. Figured the room I have is small enough he can't claim space and I don't have to share. So even though I'd love to spread out and design a room, I don't want to share so I will stay where I am.

And I'm saving between 25K and 60K. :)

When I moved to the enclosed garage and started teaching I started calling it my Sewing Studio. It was designed just for that purpose. It makes me feel important to have a "Studio"

My fabric is stored up stairs in the guest room closet - so when I'm going to go through my stash I just say "I'm going upstairs!" Then my hubby knows not to bother me and to answer the phone!

My sewing stuff is all downstairs in the lower level (ok, the basement), so I just say "Going downstairs!" and hubby knows to follow the same rules!

So, I guess I call my sewing room studio "Upstairs" or "Downstairs"!

I laugh because we are adding on to our house so I can have a 30'x14' sewdio. My DH has claimed it would make a perfect mancave with bar, bigscreen, etc. Dream on, Dear Hubby! I told him he could have the attic space and it would be just as large! Now I consider that very generous!

I refer to my sewing room as my "sewing sanctuary".
