Hello Everyone,
I am doing my first shadow box quilt. I would like your quilt expertise on what I have come up with before I start sewing. I was going to go with blackish shadow, white shashing, and a small batik border, with a larger whitish border. I would appreciate anything that you think needs to be changed.

I looked up Shadow Box quilt pictures and found lots of inspiration. Since you have some dark colors, maybe a shade of the grey would work well in order to give the shadow effect. I have read that some quilters use paint cards to help them decide on colors to choose if they don't have the color of fabric to audition from their stash. I will look forward to seeing what you decide. Have fun!

I love special effects, and this pattern is on my list. I will be watching this for my own tips! Love your squares layout. Also love the paint cards idea. They would also work for my pixel quilts' color selection!

I've noticed that your 3 brightest yellows are all on the same side of the quilt, can you change that so the colors are more in balance? A charcol gray would work for the shadows. Personally I would never border with white, but use it as an inside border instead. Be sure to show the quilt to us when complete...we love looking at pictures!
