Here is what I was taking apart

How about buying a chain saw file from the hardware store. Take the ripper with you and ask if you can get a finer enough to go in the U bend. All you would need to do is twist the file until the ripper is sharp. Until I read this topic I never though of it before. It is worth trying(Unless DH has one in garage for HIS saw.) It is worth trying and will save$$$$ form throwing away the rippers all the time.

Hubby says a point file will work. He uses it to file igniton points in cars. Less than 1/16th. He said you can buy them at an Auto Part store.

The other day I saw a man take some pieces of aluminum foil and cut pieces with scissors to sharpen them I wonder if you rolled up some foil and stuck the ripper in it several times if that would sharpen it.
