That is why my car has a trunk; otherwise, known as a temporary storage unit. It use to hold that pair of shoes I couldn't live without, now it has graduated to a TFSU (temporary fabric storage unit).

I never heard of "oh" -"old husband"? Whatever, whoever. I agree with dunster, but next time there will have to be some discussion about how much of a say you should have over oh's personal expenditures. Compromise, unless you're talking about your money vs a joint resource. Financial advice from experts always seems to stress that in a relationship each person should have a bit of the budget for unquestioned personal use. Neither party gets to control all the money - no matter who gets the paycheck or the bigger paycheck. If you are living with this person and carrying your share of the load in whatever manner, whether mopping, cooking, grocery shopping, dusting, listening to his most annoying complaints and most boring rants, etc. - it all counts. If he doesn't agree, you have bigger problems than whether or not to buy fabric when you feel like it.
