Ok I just have to tell this after reading your comment.
my brother had to go for a colon check last week and he called me complaining about all the money it cost for these doctors and he has not been able to work in over 2 years so when I was tired of listening to the same thing over and over again I politely said, "Well why don't you just tell the doctor while he's up there to pull some of that extra cash he thinks you have out your butt so you can pay him for his time?" needless to say that was the end of that conversation.

Just one more comment...now when people ask me to make them a quilt, I tell them that they need to buy the fabric. I will go with them, but they have to buy it, that way, they can actually see what it cost for materials. It's a good start for them to see the initial cost.

I can handle "sorry but I'm booked solid for the next six or more months! You should see my list!"

You can always laugh in their face and say, "Your joking right?" or "Good one, I'll call ya when I have some free time." They should get it after no calls in about 3 months or so. lol

In a disfunctional family - it is the healthiest one who gets attacked. People are just wanting you for your abilities. Remember that and you can smile and say - All in good time my pretty - all in good time.

Problem that people have with us saying NO is that they think we are selfish. I was raised to do what I was told because if I didn't I was selfish. Well then, "SELFISH" has become my middle name because if I don't have time, don't feel like it or just don't want to, I am selfish and say NO. People get really put back but then again maybe not put back far enough.
