Paper piecing will drive you insane! Even though i successfully completed the Craftsy 2012 BOM paper piecing I am not sure I could do it again. I just do not understand the technique.

I think this is sort of like the "wash fabric, don't wash fabric". Two divided camps

Not insane but maybe missing some clumps of hair. It's really not hard but I do need to focus. Because I try to use every skerrick of fabric I sometimes don't cut a big enough piece. Can't stand Waste.

My introduction to paper piecing was the "Project of Doom" at sewhooked.com designed by Jennifer Ofenstein. Every block was different, and it was a joy to do each one. Yes, it was a little daunting at first, but the results were totally terrific. I suppose it would be a little too boring to do the same thing over and over again, but that seems to be what this "hobby" is all about, doesn't it? If you have problems with paper piecing, just hang in there.

I actually love paper piecing and am working "slowly" on 2 projects right now. One is an off center pineapple block and the other is a New York Beauty block. If/when I finish them I think they will be beautiful! LOL

I admit paper piecing is not on the top of my list for making quilts, however, once I took a class with Carol Doak and she helped me to make sense out of the process, and it has gotten easier. I have made a couple wall quilts and was very pleased with the results. Again, like any other quilting technique it takes practice. Oh, and by the way, I think I'm still relatively sane - although some in my family would dispute that statement. LOL

I swear by Carol Doak's method and if you use any of her patterns, she gives you the measurements for cutting the fabric. In a while, you get it and can then adjust any pattern to her method if you like it. I also have "The Foundation Factory" and have her patterns in it so that I can make them any size I want. I LOVE TO PP! It's fun, relaxing, and so precise! I use to go nuts with doing this, but Carol helped me tremendously and I am NOT insane any more!

I have done some paper piecing but am not crazy about it. Seems to me like it wastes a lot of fabric.
