I have a farm that I use as a weekend home. My husband spends a lot more time there than I can. He's retired and I have a long way to go before I can.

On our property, we have a camp ground next to a creek. I have been thinking all summer that I "need" a treadle machine so that I can quilt under the trees. (My other option is to use a generator but I have gotten it in my head that the threadle would be peaceful). Are there any con's (reasons I shouldn't) I have a building that I could store it in when I am not there.

I love the idea of treadle-ing outside. Mine is by a door, but would need hubby's help to get it out and back in. Couldn't leave it on the front porch in a subdivision. My only con - would be if you couldn't be sure it was safe when you weren't there.

I think it is a wonderful idea. A generator would be so noisy that I wouldn't even consider it. Go for it!

Great idea. Treadles are very heavy so you will need some sort of trolly to keep it on for ease of moving it.

It sounds wonderful. :) I just love creeks. They are so peaceful and I think of them as happy places. :) Treadling there would be so something I would want to do. :)

That sounds so peaceful but you better be sure there are no friendly quilting inspectors lurking above in the treetops wanting to add a few more designs to your fabric choices!

I think it sounds great! An inexpensive indulgence which is also practical. I'd like a treadle for piecing during storms and to beautify my living room. My mom learned on a treadle, even though she's only around 60 yrs old. So I'd like to also learn and teach my kids. I'm not going to start looking until other projects are complete. Good luck with your brilliant idea!

Sounds peacefull. I might concide a screened tent with a floor to minimize on the bugs. It may be too hot during the day, and too dark at night, unless you can rig up some lighting. Then the light would surely draw in the bugs. I have a treadle at my farm and am concidering the same thing. I have the screen tent but the bugs are brutal.
