Singer 237 Parts Diagram and Source?
I managed to get my hands on one of these and have found that there are a couple of pieces that need replacing. Is there a reference somewhere to determine part numbers for specific pieces? And what about a source for parts?
the specific piece I’m trying to find at this point is thefirst (upper) thread guide.

Evidently, there were some changes in the thread guides for the 237. The earlier 237 had a bobbin tension about mid-arm and not connected with the thread guide above the tension assembly. The later ones, probably more plentiful, had the bobbin tension with the thread guide. I found the instruction manuals indicating the differences in the position at https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/in...inger-237.aspx and https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/in...hion-mate.aspx I believe one of my 237 had the tension guide broken, too. I haven't done anything about it though. I was thinking of forming some sort of wire to make one.
I have a Brother that I got out the other day, which had a broken guide. It was shaped a little differently. It was like a slotted piece of metal. I simply laid the thread on top of it. It worked fine for what I was doing. I wasn't sewing a quilt or trying to sew fast.
Ebay or bonanza may have one, but not right now that I could find. Here are some links to pictures of the part with the bobbin winder tension upper thread guide.
We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

Thanks for the info. I will get a photo and add it, but it seems that this machine is represented by the cover photo on the second manual you linked to.
this machine is designed to be mounted in a table, and it was also sold as a “portable” with a case from a Singer that accepted it similar to how a table would support it. Is there a source for a quality case? This one is in bad shape.

Do you have a manual for yours? https://www.manualslib.com/manual/86...inger-237.html and https://www.singer.com/support are places for manuals. They might be the same one.
I may have gotten the position of bobbin winder tension backwards. I have a manual that I got in an old Yahoo Groups that says it from 1967 and shows the bobbin winder tension in the middle of the arm.

Why does the file upload pop-up indicate a max file size of 5MB but it won't allow any uploads larger than 2MB? Seems dumb...
Anyway - here are a couple of pics of the broken piece.

I thought it was probably that one. I haven't figured out how to make something work.
I don't know why my links don't work like I think they should. I'll try again https://www.vintagesingerparts.com/c...20374499590242
I looked again at the bonanza one and found that it has a number of the part, but didn't have any success looking for that part number- 352237.

The bonanza link, if you scroll through the pictures https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Sin...2021/218549475 Actually, I have an schematic and that is for the angle bracket. The complete assembly number is 352240. The wire only shows part number as 352238. Don't know how one would connect it. I sincerely doubt that any of those numbers would show up anywhere for sale, now.

You know... I remember seeing that number when I looked at that link. I wrote it off and promptly forgot about it because it didn't match the part number written in the listing and I figured it wouldn't be useful in finding the actual piece I needed.
I think I'm going to have to try and find a non-working machine that I can salvage parts from. Any thoughts on where to locate a carry case for this machine?
