Singer 301
#22
You'll really like your 301. I have a black longbed and a tan shortbed, which is in a cabinet. They just seem to go on and on. With very little maintenance, except oiling, they are a usually problem-free machine. Now go have fun collecting accessories for your new addition. Remember to get the accessories for the slant-foot singers. I have so far found a blind hemmer and a crazy little zigzagger that pulls the fabric to form the zigzag.

That's what I got, too!!! I gave up on trying to afford a Featherweight, so found a 301A on Ebay that was well within my price range. It also had the manual and bobbins, and lots of feet. Congratulations!!

The machine is in a lovely cabinet that I have been using as a table in the front entry to our home. I believe it would be considered a short bed.

I have a black short bed, a card table and a trapazoid cabinet for it. (to cabinet mount a 301, you need a special metal 'cradle' that singer made. You can find them for sale on ebay, etc.).
My card table is a really neat contraption I found off of craigslist. It's metal legs... and will fit a 301, 221 or a 403. I have a 403 and the 301, so it's pretty neat. You can check out singers website or ismacs website for tables/cabinets used with which machines.
Love the 301 great great machine. And the extra 3 or 4 pounds to carry doesn't bother me at all. Great machine for classes.
Enjoy!
