Single Hole Stitchplate.Where have you been all my life?

The two machines I use are straight stitch only machines. I only have a single hole plate for them. No enders or leaders needed. Other machines I have and don't use have both. I did break a few needles when I forgot to switch plates. Needles are pretty cheap.

I have a single hole plate on my Janome 1600P that is used as my quilting machine. All it will do is a straight stitch. My 6500MC has both, a zig-zag plate and a single hole plate. I do have to remind myself to switch plates when needed.

my janome 8900 came with one, and sadly, I hardly ever use it. That's because I use the accufeed foot (walking foot) with the 1/4 inch guide; the needle has to be offset to the right, and you have to use the slotted plate. Dumb design, actually.

That's so interesting. I have been having trouble with my Juki2010q because of the stitch plate. I think I have bent the needle bar and the needle isn't centered anymore. When I try to free motion, it hits the stitch plate and makes an awful complaining sound. It stitches and walking foot fine. I am going to look for a different needle plate to see if I can switch it out. Thank you. A different problem but a similar solution in reverse.

After breaking a few needles and scaring myself half to death, now when my single hole plate is on, I put a sticky note over the button to change to zig zag so I see the note before I push the zig zag button...
