So sad another quilt shop closed
#31
We had one longtime shop here that closed recently, they had opened a 2nd location across the city a couple of yrs ago, then the original shop started to suffer. They didn't keep it stocked like the new one, so no surprise - quilters went elsewhere. They are also focusing more on their online business. The way of the future, I'm afraid ...

My favorite LQS closed a few months ago and I miss the owner terribly. She was always such a mentor and an inspiration to her students and customers.
On a bright side, though, she moved to IN to be closer to her family (from Detroit, MI) and is working on opening in a new location there.
We all wished only the best for her and hopefully plan a road trip next summer to see her.
It's really hard when your favorite shop closes. Hopefully you'll be able to find another one in your area.

We had a shop in La Fox, Il close a few years agos that I used to go to at least once a week called My Sister's Quilt Shop. I used to go to strip poker classes there. It was so much fun. Then just this past early summer Tammy Tadd's in Sycamore, Il. closed due to personal reasons. I loved that shop too. They had it decorated in bright pinks & greens. So cheerful and helpful.

Both of my LQS moved (local, within 30 miles). One didn't take their long arm with them. We could rent time to quilt our quilts but no more. The other LQS I haven't been to yet so don't know what has changed with them. They had an awesome flannel and batik selection.

When I lived in Temple, we had a wonderful Quilt Shop that closed. It was in a 2-story historic home and was so much fun to look in all the rooms and find new things! It was very sad to see it go. We were all sad.
