I would like to make a wall hanging for my daughters, 36 and 34, for their birthdays in June and September. I'm looking for ideas. Has anyone ever done something like this?

You could start by using the month's flowers - June is rose, September is Aster.
There are books on the language of flowers that might give you a hint (might find some online free)
There are plenty of roses to choose from, look through a catalog. Aster family includes sunflowers, mums (Japanese fabric?) June is the time of the summer solstice, so anything involving summer would do, September is autumn equinox, so there's plenty of fall stuff available.
HTH.

I am thinking, what might their interests be? Dogs, music, photography? You could do something with their favorite hobbies. You could find drawings online under the catagory "coloring pages". Nice easy shapes you could machine applique.

Here is a site that sell panel with daughter sayings. http://www.anniescatalog.com/detail....od_id=93189The panel has about 12 5" blocks with sayings about daughters. You could use saying (s) and use the color of their birthday month. Show us a pic when they are done. (there are probably others that sell this panel. check your LQS)

Well, hope you don't think I'm a grinch and like to spoil surprizes, but I would really involve them in choosing the design, colors etc. You may think that it would look wonderful on their wall, but they might have a different idea. Or you might be thinking of their dining room and they would really want one for the bedroom. Or the size may be wrong. Anytime you are thinking of buying or making something that will hang on a wall, it's best to involve the recipient. Just my opinion.
