I make only king or queen sized quilts and they are all rectangles.I do not hesitate to change a square to a rectangle by adding squares and using different border widths to get the desired size.

My LQS owner says that the square quilt kits do not sell as well as the rectangular kits. Lots of times the squares ones are 60x60 rather than 100x100.

Since I've never seen a square bed, I absolutely prefer rectangular. I don't know why patterns are made square, but I almost always modify them and add blocks or whatever to make them rectangular.
The king sized bed that I had when I started quilting was a square---or close enough to be called one. That got me making squares, and now my eye prefers the symmetry of them. I do the opposite; subtract or add blocks to make the big ones square. I like the big square quilts since I can fold them in half, lay them on me lengthwise and snuggle into two layers instead of one! Being nearly 6' tall, this works out well!

I like square ones for wall hangings that are small because usually the pattern is even. Most blocks are square- I say even though I've been known to have some blocks that were squar-ish.
But for beds I like rectangle, even for my queen bed. I like it to drape over the pillows and the foot.
Hmmm.. I don't think I want to discuss body size! I have too much body and not enough size! :)

Depends on the size. I like around 96 x 96 for our queen bed then make matching pillowcases. Rectangular for sofa and lap style quilts.

I like rectangles BUT I want them to be sideways!

In other words, with our bodies in the bed (DH is a big guy) I want enough quilt to cover us and hang over on the sides when DH turns over so I don't wind us with a cold back (or back side) with no quilt facing the outside.

We have a queen-sized pillow top bed and I like a quilt to be 110" across. I can make one square which is fine but it really fits better if it's @ 95" long so it doesn't drag the floor at the foot of the bed.

I like rectangles best, but King size beds are square, so most of the patterns for them are square

I am not a big fan of square quilts. I like quilts that are longer than wide unless it is a wall hanging for a special space, then you have to amke it to fit.
