I only use it for free motion quilting. You don't have enough control for piecing.

I have one and use it but I want to put the foot pedal on. I have to think and lift my hand to start or stop; with the foot pedal, I just have to press or take off my foot on the pedal.

I just invested in Bernina 440QE. I love my Pfaff 7570; it is my workhorse and travel machine. I have not used my Bernina much yet, but know I will love that one also. Kind of like our kids, no favorites, but each has features that make them special to our hearts.

[quote=kristakz]I use it only for winding bobbins (LOVE it for that).

I have never used the Start/Stop function on my machine but after reading this post I gave it a try and totally love it for winding bobbins!! They're wound so evenly now. I have several vintage machines and some of the bobbin winders just don't work well at all. So I gathered up some bobbins from different machines, plastic and metal, and took them to my Janome. Even though the Janome uses plastic bobbins, it still wound the metal ones with no problem at all...both class 15 and 66. I like this method even better than using my Sidewinder because I can slow down the speed!! Thanks so much for this heads up!!!

Ditto; I find I can control everything better using the Start/Stop button.

I constantly use it and have even worn off the wording. To me it is so much easier. I use the foot pedal when motion quilting. -J
