Default Storage Bags

Does anyone know of a source for quilt storage bags suitable for an old, fragile quilt? I know I can use a cotton pillowcase, but wanted something more secure for this rescue quilt. I did do repairs and I want to label it and return it to the family who was going to throw it out. Yikes!!!! It is from the 30's and was machine pieced and handquilted by a woman who died 20 years ago at age 97 or 98. I have a handout about how to care for a quilt which I will include.

Have you considered using an acid-free, archival for textiles, type of box instead of a bag?

Here's a link to the type of box bear mentioned:

You can also buy archival quality boxes for wedding dresses, and those would be large enough for a quilt.

I seriously don't remember where I bought my large muslin type bags with zipper for my quilts but I love them.

Does the family want the quilt back? I hope they'd value it in restored condition; otherwise I bet you'd love to keep it.

My thought, also.

My thought, too. I have a large muslin bag with a zipper that I store things in but I've had it so long, I have no idea where I bought it.

Edit: Okay, I got curious and went and looked. I thought I'd seen some fabric blanket bags at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I didn't go thru all of them, but there are a couple listed here.

Thanks for the ideas. Archival boxes was the product I was trying to think of. The reason I took the quilt to repair was because it belonged to son-in-laws great grandma. I meet her years ago and really enjoyed her. She was as feisty as they come. I couldn't bear to just have them toss the quilt like it was nothing. Fortunately my daughter felt the same and rescued it after asking me to help her. I'm not giving it back to the family, but to her and her husband who will pass it on to their daughter, who at 14 is learning to quilt and really appreciates the sentimental value, even if it's just an ordinary quilt.

How wonderful of you to repair the quilt. Suggestion: please include a letter describing the woman who made this and why you restored this quilt. First hand sources are few and far between when examining artifacts. On a personal note, thank you for this restoration and passing the quilt on to your daughter and her husband.
