At Home Depot I found a scrap of the molding that is used to make wooden stair rails -- it's about 3 in. wide, flat on the bottom and gently curved on top. I glued a scrap of cotton batting to it as a cover and it works well.

Strip stick is the best. You will love it. Make it lay flat.

I was going to suggest this too. Another way to press your seams open is to hold up the unpressed fabric with the none iron holding hand at about a 45 degree angle, wriggle the nose of the iron into the opened seam and slowly work your way to the other end. For some reason holding the fabric up at an angle lets that seam open right up and pressing it open is easy.

I also bought a section of round molding, cut one piece about 18" long and left the other piece about 5'. These pressing sticks also work well. No need to cover them with canvas, even tho that was my original plan.
