We have all been there-to some degree- with new technology. When I got my new sewing machine about 18 months ago I had a new learning curve. I sat down with the manual and started through it until I felt comfortable with it. I looked at every diagram and located each item on the machine as I looked at the pictures. It helped a lot. Now, my challenge is a new cell phone that it ever so much smarter than me. Unfortunately, there is only a brief booklet and a web address. I work with it each day to add a new feature to what it will do. But, knowing me, I will quit when it does 'enough'. Don't let it get the best of you-jump in. You will love it.

I made dog beds for the first two weeks after I got my sweet 16. No harm, no foul. Find something you can use for pets or throw away and go for it. No worries. You will get the hang of it so fast. The main thing I did wrong was in meandering I got my lines too close together and when washed the dog quilts were flat, not poofy. Other than that you really can't mess up a lot. Have fun.

I agree. Make you local shelter some dog quilts and practice on any fabric you wonder why you ever bought it. The dogs won't complain.

I too have an older Tinn
Lizzie purchased at an Estate Sale, I'm afraid to figure out how to reassemble the frame and then to use her. She and the unassembled frame have been is her own room for a year now! Just waiting for me to light the fire under DH to put the frame together & under me to actually learn how to use her UGH!

Sit down and use it. Believe me, when any appliance or machine goes through R&D they try every imaginable scenario to tear it up before it is released. It isn't going to break very easily or without some very thought out process beforehand.

After looking at the box for two weeks, DH and I got the Pro-Stitcher installed on my Fushion HQ. It does turn out, but that was about all I could handle today.

Next step - figuring out how to use it!

I've owned the HQ since September - and I've only done one quilt on it. Took me forever to get brave enough to use my Bailey, and I finally got very comfortable with it, then moved up to the Fushion and now I'm back to being afraid to use it.

It took me about a year to use my embroidery machine. I bought a used one, and finally started using it - but not the embroidery part. Still afraid of that.
