I like the idea of a sashing. With it's uneven pieces, a sashing would set the blocks apart so that each would have it's own part in the quilt, rather than melding into one big whole. IMHO

I agree with Sharon, black would make them pop. I watch garage sales and get twin size sheets in different solid colors. Then I just tack them one my design board and lay my blocks on top. That way I can see what color I really want to sashing.

I'm with you. The sashing will detract from the blocks. It's beautiful. I love working with batik.

black would be too in your face. try navy blue. it works like black, but is a bit softer.

If it were mine I would do it without sashing, put a smaller black border and then a larger color border on the outside. Piano key border with scraps of all the colors is neat too, if you have enough left.

I am not sure what I would do with it if it was mine but I love it.

- get some additional batiks in the same color range and add a frame/ border around it just as it is and then add some smaller blocks then a final border. I am leaning towards this as I think that I like the layout. I am afraid that the sashing will detract from the impact of the blocks.

What do you all think??
I love the colors - I vote no sashing. dark boarder but I probably wouldn't go with black. Please share the finished product with us.
