I make my own. I put a short history of the quilt on the label, usually including the source of the fabric, the names of people who may have helped in its preparation, the reason for choosing that particular pattern, the name of the long arm quilter (if there is one), the place where the quilt was created and my own name and the date. I write it in my own hand on muslin using a pen with indelible ink.

Some of my quilting buddies think that's too much, but if my quilts survive me by 50 or 100 years, the person who has them may want to know from whence they came.

I recently sandwiched and quilted a pieced top from the 1940s. I made a label by copying an old photo of the person who pieced it (my great-grandmother) and typed text about her and the finished pieces provenance. I printed this onto a fabric sheet (ink jet printer) and stitched it to the back of the quilt. It has held up through several washings as well as this "old" quilt top. In fact, I think the top looks brighter for finally coming out into the "Life of Day".

I make my own. I will either use a light material I used on the front and use Pigma pens to write the label or I will use old hankies and embroider with my sewing machine a label. I love the way the labels look with all the lace around the edge!

A friend gave me a birthday present of embroidered tags with my name on them and the fact that I made the quilt, so I use them.

I embroider my labels. I include name of quilt (usually the name of the pattern), my name, name of person it's made for, date, city and state where I made it.

I make my labels with my embroidery machine and then just change the info. I made a special wall hanging for my mom when we learned she had cancer and on that label I left the top of the label open front back. This way I could write on paper a letter to her and when finished inserted in the pocket. The note held special memories and times we had and told her I knew she was going to a place without suffering and pain but I was going to miss her so much.
