So glad you fixed it. I had a couple of blocks turned the wrong way in a log cabin quilt and did not discover them until it was quilted. They were not by the edge. I made another quilt just like it, and gave the one with the boo boo to my niece. I don't know if she ever noticed it. I didn't tell her.

I do that same mistake more than anyone in the quilting world. I would unsew whatever necessary to make it right, I know its a lot of extra work, but you won't be happy until you do it.

Ahhhhh, you did it and it's beautiful. I agree with your thinking, too. Sometimes our best is not achieved the first time. Doing our best often means REdoing when it's in our power to do so. You sound really pleased with your fix, as well you should be. A veteran will be proud to own this token of your appreciation.
