I put Glad's Stretch & Seal both on the botton of my rulers to prevent slipping, and on top to prevent glare.

I thought it was just me! Bad eyes + glaring rulers make for frustration for sure. Will try the polyurethane. Thanks.

Well, I bought the frosted ruler, but it's still shiny on the top. Sigh...... So I flipped it over and it's fine that way!

Thanks, you answered the question about what to do about all my shiny rulers. It didn't use to be a problem but now that I am older and have a few eye issues shininess can be a problem. Nice to know I don't have to put up with it.

Thank you for the suggestion! I was wondering the same thing so I will try this!

Have you tried turning off the overhead lighting and using a table lamp like an Ott lamp? Just a thought, I don't have good overhead lighting and frequently use my Ott lamp.

A friend put clear contac on her's. She gave me 1 to try and it did cut some of the glare but not completely. Would rather have the non-glare but at the present I am using the wood rulers for my straight lines. There is absolutely no glare from them. I draw the pattern out on graft paper and then do all my lines on the graph paper with the ruler to make them straight and press it onto the fabric and start cutting. I do use the coated freezer paper with my hot iron. If I pull it off slow enough I can usually cut the full quilt with 2-3 pattern pieces.
