I keep seeing applique quilts from the 1850's or thereabouts with those big cockscomb pieces and plumes....and then the patterns seem to be in so many of the books! UGH!!!!! They were a lot of work and some are beautiful but for me to make or own one????? Not in this lifetime!!!!!

I thought I was so broadminded that no quilt pattern was creepy to me and THEN I remembered pre-printed CROSS-STITCH blocks. A-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-agh. I made one 40 years ago for my mother and even set, sashed and quilted it was a saccharine, hackneyed, poorly embroidered pink and green pastel nightmare. :hunf: :hunf: :hunf: :hunf: :hunf:

And one may have a free shot if disliking Yo-Yo's. They are not quilts. A quilt may have yo-yo's as part of the pattern but the assembly of yo-yo's is a coverlet or spread or something else not a quilt.

Paper piecing bugs me, it's so sharp looking, I feeling like I'm looking at very severe pointy knives when I see it and they are out to get me.

LOL!!! I know what you mean though. I have a bit of a knife phobia... I have a really difficult time watching chefs on TV. I do find sharp, thin quilt pieces a bit off-putting. I wonder if that's part of it?

I don't like Log Cabin, Dresden Plate, OBW, anything in Civil War colors or styles and most scrappy quilts.

LOL So many things posted I have made or like. I don't like sunbonnet sue but I tried to update her by doing a wallhanging in black, white, and red. When I thought I didn't like a pattern, I saw one done by someone on the board that made me like it. The only pattern I really don't like is drunkard's path, but I have seen them done well.

Garden trellis quilts do not appeal to me at all. They seem so rigid or something.
