There is more than one spray in the automotive area at Walmart. There is one that is a spray glue, that has all kinds of chemicals. And there is a spray for holding two of the interrior fabrics pieces together.

Someone on the board posted the name and # that was on the can she bought a while back. Maybe do a search to find.

You are so right - it is not the same product! The glue used for car headliners is very strong and not water soluble. DO NOT use it on any quilts.

I would also be worried about what it would do to the working of my sewing machine!

Quite a few years ago I used Heat N Bond to apply hearts to a background while I appliqued them. I did not know that it was "heavy duty," which does not work for applique/sewing. It really gummed up on the needle. I thought it was my machine at first. That is what this reminds me...I would be surprised if it works for sewing.

Good tip if it will wash out, and not gum up our needles.

I had to wash a batting that had been sprayed and I can tell you it doesn't wash out. Needless to say I don't use it any more for quilts. I did use it when I made some fridge magnets.

Ditto...I find June Tailor gums up my needle. I love 505 spray.

I prefer the 505 over June Tailor.

My mother owned an auto upholstery shop for many, many years and one of the items she dealt with daily was headliners and convertible tops. The glue she used could and would never have been used as a "basting" glue for her quilts or any item she made that needed "glue". It is not washable and once applied you can not remove it.
