I occasionally get water or at least a damp floor in my basement sewing room. I have one of those inexpensive boot mats with the one inch sides. theyhave treads on the bottom and work beautifully. My foot sits comfortably, nothing slides and I know everything will stay dry.

I got a piece of 3/4" plywood about 6"x9" and glued some of that rubber shelf liner (kind of waffly looking) to both sides. My foot pedal sits on the top and doesn't slide around and the shelf liner on the bottom holds the little platform in place on the floor. It also has the added benefit of raising the foot pedal that 3/4" so I don't accidentally step on it.

For years this was a huge problem for me. I tried so many different products and tips. When I bought a new machine last year the greatest thing about it was I no longer needed to use a foot pedal. It has a button that I push. I LOVE IT.
I love my whole machine.
