Some of the dresses are pretty worn, I almost tossed part of one of them because it's so thin it's almost falling apart but then I decided I'd fuse interfacing to that fabric to reinforce it instead and keep it. I figure the wear and tear is a big part of the charm![/QUOTE]

That is definitely part of the charm!

Wow! What a family treasure! When you do get the quilts done, they will be soooo thrilled. I have some quilt tops, I think are old feed sacks ('cause they are such big pieces & so scrappy). Don't know whether my MamMaw or my aunt did them. But hopefully, one day (you know one day is not a day of the week!)

What a WONDERFUL TREASURE you have - both in your Grandmother's journal, and with her dresses that your Aunt was thoughtful enough to save. I think your plan for the quilts is both admirable and well thought out............Your family will be so pleased, and your Grandmother so very very proud!

You will have a wonderful time making your quilts. Your grandmother's journal drawings were fantastic. Sketching patterns by hand is very time consuming. Continue to chronicle everything as well as she did.

The blue pattern that is 26 x26 is fantastic. I'd love that for a single block king sized quilt. And the blues are beautiful, too

What a wonderful legacy! I can't wait to see pictures of your quilts as you progress. With your grandmother's dresses, patterns, pics of her wearing the dresses and posing with her quilts and all the ways you've thought of and others have suggested to document her work and her life, you indeed have a treasure. So awesome.
