Default How to cut 30 degree diamonds

I just got a pattern that has blocks made from 30 degree diamonds. I cut 3 1/2" strips, cut 1 end at a 30 degree angle, then cut diamonds 3 1/2" wide. I thought I did all that but the diamond doesn't look right, so I need help. Is there a specialty ruler that would help?
Thanks

30 degrees should be marked on your ruler, it is on my Omnigrid ruler. It is also the measurement of the top of the pyramid rulers:

All 4 sides should be the same length, two opposite angles should be 30 degrees, and the other two opposite angles should be 150 degrees. If that's the case, then your diamond is perfect, even if it doesn't "look right".

Thanks for the help. I tried the way the quilting about site was showing, but it wasn't right, so I emailed the designer, and she explained with pictures. Very helpful. My block looks like it should.

I'm making a table topper that uses the 60 diamond in the middle and and having the same issue. No matter how hard I try to cut and sew correctly, I seem to have difficulty getting a correct finished diamond. Any hints from those of you who have experience sewing with the diamonds? Appreciate any help.

There are specialty rulers for diamonds. The diamond I have is 45 degrees by Jan Krents at www.ctpub.com .

Did you contact the designer? The designer for my pattern was very helpful.
Can you tell us the pattern?
