I had to get back online and say, That works great!!! I'm only in about 3 flowers so far but I will definitely do mine "open" from here on. I haven't seen the directions but, I did use a bulldog clip at the end to keep the hexies together instead of sewing each end first. Thanks

I ddon't do hexies and probably won't. I am always looking for and trying different methods to get better results.

Without pictures I'm having a problem envisioning what you are describing. I join my hexies with a blind stitch and since it works I'll probably keep on doing that. Hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Right?

Sounds like a great method - will definitely have to try it as I want to do the Insanity Quilt.

True, but the entry and exit are on the " fold" of the seam, right.....that's how I do it...I think somewhere on line there is a tute w/ pics showing that......

Like everything else we find what works best for each of us......

I, too, learned the ladder stitch when taking sewing in Home Ec class in the early 60s. We learned it as the hem stitch. Better for threads not showing than the whip stitch. But, it was not the stitch that Peckish has illustrated.

Thanks for sharing. I have several hexie projects going & haven't had a problem but I think I'll check out Mickey's class on Craftsy.
