Default Tula pink butterfly quilt

Has anyone made this? http://gemini-stitches.blogspot.com/...fly-quilt.html

I want to give it a go but am currently having a problem sourcing it here in the uk. The American sites I have found selling it are charging a big amount of postage to UK so it would cost me almost $50 in total which I’m not sure I’m ready to commit to just yet. I wish they would just do it in electronic format - so much easier nowadays!

For those of you that who have made it were there any difficulties/ potential pitfalls I should be aware of? I would class myself as intermediate so I know this will be a challenge.

This is one of my projects. It is one step at a time. I started it and decided the fabric choices weren't working for me so switched out to different fabrics. I don't like chopping large prints so consider how the fabric look when cut. Plus you want contrast in the fabrics so each block stands out.

The only blocks left to make for the quilt are the circle blocks and then putting everything together. In most of the other blocks I used oversized pieces and trimmed them down or squared up. Remember, you want a mirror image of each side.

Another helpful tip is to make a fabric journal of each block. A little swatch of fabric next to each block works well.

I'm still not sure about the final borders either and might change them. It will be sent out for LA quilting when finished. Best wishes for your quilt!

I had the pattern for quite some time before I finally decided to make it. The first couple years I would pick it up and look through it but for some reason just couldn’t wrap my head around it- would lay it aside. Then, finally the time was right and I dove in. It wasn’t near as overwhelming as I had believed for a couple years.
One step at a time- start to finish. I used all stash fabric for mine, many scraps.

I found this listing on eBay; it looks like shipping to the UK will be reasonable.

I made this quilt. It was fun and challenging at the same time. What fun to sleep under a butterfly! ( below is the link to my quilt) Butterfly quilt update!

My suggestions-1) choose your color way and gather fabrics for it. You can decide on which color you want for each block as you make each block
2) do all of one set of blocks at a time. Does not make differences which one you start with but remember to make 2 of each color way for blocks and then make other of the same bock different colors.
3) number each set of blocks with the corresponding block number and set aside.
4) make all blocks before trying to layout pattern because different block go in each section.
5) lay out and sew each section for ONE side and sew complete side and then do other side (remember wings are mirror image of each other
6) be prepared to change block colors if needed. I had to remake 2 sets if individual blocks because I did not like the colors block layout
7) follow easy way to make so many HST. Instruction are a little hard to follow but you improvise on the method. Just take it one step at a time!
8) I learned I Hate to make circular blocks!

Most important Have fun !!!!!!!! You can do it!!!!!!
