Well, you might, but for me - never in this lifetime, no matter what the project is I can usually count on "un-sewing" at least something.

The more care you give to cutting exactly and stitching 1/4" exactly the less ripping. I look at it this way, I can either spend more time cutting and stitching and less time ripping or less time cutting and stitching and more time ripping. I am compulsive about points and corners matching too.

I don't know whether to feel good about being in such good company, or sad that it likely will never get better! Seriously, I had to accept it is part of sewing. To me it's an irritating part because it is so slow at times, and I love the accomplishment of getting something done. If I find I can't concentrate on what I'm doing, or I've been at it too long, and I'm spending too much time ripping I just quit for the day -- although I do finish ripping so I don't have it to look forward to when I come back. I quit sewing before I make more things to rip.

I remember when I first started quilting I posted that I had become and expert, in Froggy sewing Now ten years on I am still an expert just a bit faster and less stressed about it, it's part of quilting IMO!

From my own personal view point; I go and look to see what sign the moon is in, before I even think about going out to my sewing room. And yes, everyone I know (and love) says I am a superstitious (spell) fool; but it works for me. If I know I am going to have a bad day sewing, I get in the car with DH and we go somewhere fun......

There are days when I rip out as many stitches as I sew. That is usually when I take a break.

my ripper has a polergist in him. he sits by my machine and waits and can't wait till i do something wrong so he can get attention. when we went out to dinner a couple of weeks ago he was right there with us. apparently he slipped my my shirt pocket with out me noticing. i'm just glad he had his cover on at the time. he is just a little thing but he has been with me now over 20 years he doesn't like the others of his own kind so he is always ahead of the line.

The better we get the more we expect of ourselves and small issues suddenly stand out like huge sores and just HAVE to be fixed.

Hey everyone - look at The Quilt Show today. There's an announcement about a wonderful new invention - an automatic stitch remover! Just what i've been waiting for my entire sewing life!

Ripping happens! A long time ago a friend got me a brass seam ripper with a brass cap to cover the sharp part. It has a really fine tip. I've tried several methods and types, but always go back to this seam ripper.
