When this happens with my FW The bobbin finger is not between the two metal squares in the bobbin case. I take the bobbin out and reseat it. I don't know if yours is the same.

I have found this to be my cause of loops on bottom.

I'm not sure if this will help, but changing to a new needle might help, also, I have had this happen when I have not threaded the bobbin correctly, making sure I hear the two clicks (at least on my machine). Usually it's something simple, but it can drive you to the looney bin, especially when you are all set and rearing to quilt. Good luck.

Debbie B.,
I'm glad that you solved your problem. I'm drooling over your machine.

How about checking your needle, perhaps it has a burr. Also check your tensions carefully maybe a piece of lint is in there.

Just a silly thought...When did you last change your needle?

Generally speaking, if the bottom of the piece is messed up, the fault is with the top tension. If the top of the piece has the mess, the bobbin is at fault. It sounds like your presser foot is not down or the top thread is not correctly seated in the tension disk. Is there a broken thread in the tension disk? Loosen it and brush it out well.
