Virtual Quilting Weekend 8/8-8/10/25

Well, because I love to see pictures, I decided I should share my project for now. I sat and hand quilted with a friend for a couple hours this afternoon so am just getting to do some machine quilting on my Under the Stars now before dinner.

Oh, Thimble your quilt is just too cute!!
I did work on my #1 project but had to remake some of the diamond blocks. Some of the ones I made were just not exact enough. In other words, the were not square and would make for a wonky edge. So I stopped and made more with care and NO FUDGING. They look so much better. It will set me back on accomplishing all of my goals for the weekend, but the end result will be more pleasing.
Back tomorrow with an update. And looking for yours too.

Cute snowman quilt, T.
I had to clear my table of fabric choices for pouches. I have moved on!! After helping DS get her paperwork ready to mail, I did apply the binding to my kaleidoscope quilt. Win! Thanks to DD for the photo assist! Today, I will tackle the Firecracker quilt sandwiching process. Pool noodling is new, and I will check the back this time for wrinkles! I also have the blocks for another Faux Diamonds Quilts in blues that need starching and squaring up...

My goal is to finish the Trail Mix quilt on the frame. I'm down to the bottom and lower sides of the 2 sashings and border. The border alone will take over 2 hours to stitch out once I've got it set up to go. Right now we're under a storm watch so I'll have to wait until its passed us by before I turn my machine on. In the mean time I'll work on some embroidery designs setting them up to use the threads I have on hand. I picked up some matching picture frames at the thrift store and I'll get them spray painted white. I just had my basement bathroom/closet remodeled completed and I found this wall plaque of an old clawfooted tub with a tiger stripe on the exterior side. Found some clawfooted designs on Embroidery Library that would go great with it and I have one wall across from the sink/toilet that would be great to put these frames of clawfooted tubs on. My walls on a medium grey so I'll look for a similar grey in my fabric stash to embroider these designs onto. All my cabinets are white. These frames will finish the room completely. I might need to find a couple more frames as I do have a wall at the back of the room that's empty and really needs something to spice it up. Might have to go out and get a few more designs to fill it in yet. But nothing gets turned on when its storming outside.
I've also got the layout all worked out for the next quilt to go on the frame, it's an optical illusion in reds and whites as they asked for checkerboard and this is what I came up with. Thought I had a photo of it but I don't, darn it all.

Good morning,Quilters! Today, my focus will be to finally put my Cheddar BowTies together, a leader and ender quilt from Bonnie Hunter, started in 2010. Not sure about if I am going to put on any borders or not, but will be happy to get the main part finished! Also, I am going to finally decide on what projects I am going to take on a five day quilting retreat in a few days. I want to start cutting things out so I am ready to go, go, go when I get there!
Have a great weekend everyone!

@Snooze2978, not sure if this is the quilt you are referring to, but here is a post by you with a red and white Illusion quilt.

Hello quilters!
I've been MIA from this board, but not from quilting. My DS is headed of to college next weekend, so I've got to distract myself from the empty nest. I hope it's okay if I join in. I love hearing about other projects and seeing quilts!
Started back to school (I'm a teacher), and made composition notebook covers for all of my teamies and friends. I used mostly scraps, and everyone loved them. Added a pen loop and a nice flair pen (teachers love those), and it was nice to do something to kick off the year. I did buy a roll of fusible fleece from Amazon, and that made things go so fast. I think I made 12 of them.
Weekend Goals:
1. Finish big stitch hand quilting a throw modern log cabin quilt
2. Get it bound
3. Hang up the quilted wall hanging I just finished over my piano
4. Continue to help the DS pack for college--we need to get his quilt washed
Love the projects and plans I'm seeing!

I am back from my road trip, saw parts of the state I hadn't seen before... and I did get some fabric.
I am still trying to limit my fabric purchases, but into each life some fabric must come! Not too bad a haul, some fat quarters in my (allowed purchases) black/white/gray, plus a couple of "dragon hoard" in orange-ish and gold embellishments, and 1 bowling fabric. Oh, and half a yard of Minions fabric -- for whatever reasons I love me my minions. I have a small collection of bowling and favorite things fabric in honor of the hubby, on the road trip last week I got the idea of using an altered version of this free pattern linked below. I want the length of the shirts longer, I might change the sleeves slightly, and some will be pieced to give more of the bowling shirt look. I really like the dimensional collars, and use of the reverse side of the fabric for the V neck piece.

Good morning everyone, Happy VQW, Raggiemom, as many of us remember over the past recent years, getting a new sewing space settled takes some time. I just moved a few pieces again in my space for better flow a few weeks ago. Iceblossom is spot on, two years in and there is still tweaking happening.
I am making my daughter's wedding dress, final fitting will be in two weeks, then final adjustments for the final day in September. Hope everyone has a good productive VQW.
