I've been MIA with other projects so far this weekend but will be back to working on quilty stuff tomorrow. I have also really enjoyed reading everyone's posts and looking at the eye candy I just love pictures! We've also had cold weather here in Southern Alberta. It's been running in the -30 deg C range for about a week (that would be around -22 deg F for those of you who use that measurement). The other night it was -31 but "felt" like -39 with the wind chill. The warm up starts tomorrow and within a couple of days it will be up to zero. That's a 30 degree difference in just a few days. Ugh. Back to quilting, I'm working on a Hunter's Star using the Missouri Star Quilts easy pattern, and I'm up to here so far:

It's about 8:30pm now, back says quit for the day. Sister says ditch the idea of a second border... And I'm ready to be done with this so, it will only be the piano keys.
I also removed a small mouse worth of lint from around my bobbin case! Ew!

Hey, we are practically neighbors! I live 10mi south of Louisburg--Sooo glad this morning when the roads were dried out and not slick here when I drove to Paola for beginner classes--nothing like a strong KS wind to dry out everything! LOL Great class with 23 beginners (or non-beginners wanting to improve skills)!

I got all the blocks made, squared and arranged today! I was pretty happy because i did it in between dog training, laundry and a trip to the range to shoot. I'm hoping to get them sewn together tomorrow. Then I might be asking for help with the borders. The pattern doesn't call for borders but I made it with fabric from my stash and only had enough for a small quilt. I'm going to put borders on to make it a bit larger.

Tish—I had to laugh about the “ but feels like -39” comment. I personally would be so numb I couldn’t feel a thing. If temps go below 40F, I’m cold !!

I’m really enjoying the eye candy!

Still working on microquilting the center part- haven’t even thought about what to do with the borders. It’s going much more slowly than usual since my two main quilting machines (the Sweet 16 and the PQ1500s) don’t like using the 100wt on spools. They do fine with it on cones, but something about the spools causes frequent breakage and tension problems. Unfortunately, I’ve only got the colors I want to use for this quilt on spools. Anyway, instead Of having those nice big throat spaces I’m shoving the quilt through the 7” harp space in my PC420 which is perfectly happy to quilt with it on spools- still get some breakage due to design of spool I think, but not near so much as with the bigger machines. I’ve gotten spoiled by the visibility of the higher shank on the PQ and the Sweet16. Took lots of breaks yesterday and worked on my scrap bucket so that’s getting under control.

Here are a couple of pics of the quilt I'm working on this weekend. The full pic looks wavy because it's partly micro quilted- only the top 1/3 of the white part is done. That'll smooth out once it's all completed and the borders get quilted. I'm using this quilt to just play and doodle so there is no rhyme or reason to what things are quilted where.
