Those are really cute, Thimblebug.
I spent the morning trying to decide what to do for a backing for the art quilt that measures 3' x 8'. I didn't have enough of anything that would work, so I decided to dye/paint a piece of fabric for it. After mixing a gazillion different colors and adding in an equal amount of textile medium I was able to get a nice deep gray that has a bit of sparkle and used that to over-dye/paint a truly ugly piece of brown fabric that is exactly the right size. It's now wadded up on my table along with the mop up fabric (a hideously ugly pink that looks much better now with its over-dye/paint of deep sparkly gray). They will both stay wadded up until dry (a couple of days most likely) then I will heat set the paint. Keeping them wadded up allows some wicking action that gives a nice subtle tone on tone effect. Glad to have finally made a decision on that one.
Now on to the butterfly...

Hi everyone, and thanks Raggiemom for hosting.
I'll be continuing with the handquilting of my Christmas tree skirt - it's coming along. I've echo-quilted the centre (or as much of the centre as I plan on doing, bearing in mind a tree-trunk will be in there), done various stand alone outlines of Christmassy motifs (e.g. Christmas trees - and some Little Red Trucks transporting Christmas trees that I am particularly proud of), and a holly border. Now I need to figure out the last bit of quilting design - I know that I want to do a garland-style motif, and for it to be relatively plain so it doesn't fight with the fabric....
I'll also be trying to work on Blocks 1 (& maybe 2) of the Pumpkin Patch Penguins BOM.
Most of the free time I'll have will be Saturday morning, so we'll see how much I manage to get done

Beckyw, what pattern did you use for a tool bag?
rff1010, I wasn't sure what a Boomerang Diamond pattern looked like so had to look it up. But even after doing that, I'm not sure which way would be easier to assemble! Good luck
quiltingshortimer, I wish your husband successful surgeries and speedy recovery.
For those working on masks, thank you. I've made some but have to admit they're not my favorite item to work on!
Sounds like we'll have a VQW Labor Day weekend
I finally finishing stitching down a 50 inch hanging sleeve on a Lone Star wall hanging. I didn't think i would ever come to the end of it!

I made a lot of progress quilting my Hunter’s Star quilt. I also relearned that, for me, it’s better to bury the loose threads as you go. I spent an hour after shutting my machine down burying threads and I’m maybe 1/4 of the way done. Sigh...

Hello All! I plan to work on a baby quilt. To date, I am basting a ruffle to a quilted top + batting. Next is the scary part where I place the plush shannon cuddle backing fabric right sides together with the quilted top with basted ruffle. I plan to sew an half inch around and leave a hole to turn right sides out. On some tutorials the minky back is larger than the top and others cut the minky to match the quilt size top. By all means, jump in and advise me if you have advice on how to proceed. Thanks and Happy quilting to one and all!!

I'm in! I want to make more masks (I have found one that I am wearing, I like much better than the others, so I will make more of that design.
I also have (oh, I don't know.... ) 47? ( wild guess lol) WIPs and UFOs in my studio that I need to advance forward toward completion.
Having lunch with a friend, but then back here into the AC since it's hot and steamy here in SE PA.
Have an awesone weekend all of my quilting friends!
